Twelve-year-old Satyam Kumar from Bhojpur may be described as a child prodigy from Bihar after Tathagat Avtar Tulsi, who became the youngest assistant professor at IIT-Bombay at 24 last year. Satyam cracked IIT-JEE this year; Tulsi had completed MSc degree from Patna University when he was 12.
Satyam, son a farmer from Bakhorapur village under Barahara, who qualified from Mumbai zone, secured the 8,137th all-India rank. He is waiting for his class XII results, and will not seek admission in an engineering college this year,as he wants to improve his rank. Interestingly, his father Siddhnath Singh had cleared his matriculation examination after three attempts.
It is difficult to believe that my son cleared such a prestigious examination at 12. We want him to keep his feet firmly on the ground, said the proud father. Satyams mother Pramila Devi is a housewife.
Satyam, who studies at Kota has not come back to his village after the IIT-JEE results. His parents have advised him to follow his teachers suggestions.
