There is uncertainty over Mumbai Indians fast bowler Lasith Malinga’s availability for Sunday’s game against Kings XI Punjab at the Wankhede Stadium as the Sri Lankan has left for Colombo. Malinga also missed a training session on Friday. It is learnt that the injury-prone Malinga is suffering from back spasms and there is no clear indication as to how many games he could miss. Malinga is set to undergo a fitness test in Mumbai on the eve of the match against Punjab and a call on his match fitness will be taken only late on Sunday or on Monday morning.

“Malinga has a sore back and has been in discomfort for the past few days. He has left for home and did not attend Friday’s training session. We are hoping that he will be fit soon,” a Mumbai Indians team source told The Indian Express on Saturday. Malinga did not feature in Mumbai’s last game against Delhi.
