Mohun Bagan,Sporting Clube de Goa and Churchill Brothers split points with JCT,Mahindra United and Air India, respectively in the I-League on Saturday.

Churchill remained on top with 43 points from 21 matches, followed by Sporting on 40 from as many matches. Bagan, placed third with 37 points, however, have three matches in hand while the Goans have just one each. But the Kolkata club need to win the rest of their matches and expect Churchill to either lose or draw against Mohammedan Sporting to win the title. Sporting Clube, however, are virtually out of contention, owing to a vastly inferior goal-difference — 6 to Churchill’s 26.

Bagan looked like bridging the gap as they led against JCT in Ludhiana after NS Manju scored early. However, the hosts pulled it back through Amandeep Singh in the 81st minute. In Margao,Sporting Clube drew 2-2 with Mahindra United after grabbing the lead in the 28th minute. In Mumbai,Air India’s Emmanuel Ovieghara pulled back Churchill’s one-goal lead in the 88th minute. In Kolkata,Chirag did enough to see off defending champions Dempo SC to a goalless draw.
