After getting off to winning starts, both the Rajasthan Royals and the Kolkata Knight Riders will look to maintain a clean slate when the teams lock horns at Jaipur today.

Players to watch out for

Kusal Perera: The aggressive southpaw left jaws dropping with his short stint against the Delhi Daredevils. With three crisp hits to the fence,Perera resembled the way Sanath Jayasuriya used to bat. May it be the flick past square leg or the natural instinct to go after the ball, this little dynamite will only get better with the tournament.

Brett Lee: Lee kicked off the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League in fine fashion as the speedster castled young Unmukt Chand in the very first ball of the tournament. It was not a pleasant outing after that as he went for plenty in his remaining overs. It will be interesting to see how the Aussie performs today.

Venue

The last IPL fixture at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium was a decent scoring affair as both Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals scored just above eight runs per over. Mumbai seamer Dhawal Kulkarni used the conditions to full effect and was impressive with figures of 3/18. It will be interesting to see how mystery spinner Sunil Narine and the very handy Rajat Bhatia exploit the conditions today.

Strengths

Rajasthan Royals: The inaugural IPL champions are devoid of star names but have enough firepower to give any team a run for their money. With a fine blend of youth and experience,Royals have a formidable batting unit. Another notable aspect about their game is the level of commitment they exhibit on the field.

Kolkata Knight Riders: The Kolkata Knight Riders have an explosive batting line-up with the likes of Gautam Gambhir,Yusuf Pathan and Eoin Morgan. If the aggressive trio is not enough, there is enough stability in Jacques Kallis and Manoj Tiwary to dig the team out of trouble. No matter how well a batting unit they are, their trump card still is the mystery spinner Sunil Narine, who is yet to be decoded.

Weakness

Rajasthan Royals: One should not read too much into Royals’ thrilling win over the Delhi Daredevils in their opening fixture. The team is struggling to get their act right with the ball. With not enough variety in the ranks, the attack releases steam in the middle half of the game. Only time will tell whether Rahul Dravid can do a Shane Warne and inspire this team to go all the way in the tournament.

Kolkata Knight Riders: The opening combination remains a worry as Manvinder Bisla has failed to deliver on a consistent basis. The right-hander will have to put his head down before Vijay Dhaiya and Co. try out few things.

Star watch

If Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders are playing, you can’t get Bollywood out of the picture. Apart from a battle on the field, there will be another one in the stands as owners Shahrukh Khan and Shilpa Shetty will be cheering with their set of supporters.
