* The PCB on Tuesday took some intriguing decisions like appointing Moin Khan as manager and recalling several players as they announced three separate squads for the forthcoming tour of Zimbabwe. Resting Mohammad Irfan and opener Nasir Jamshed for the two Test matches was a major decision by the national selectors,who also included uncapped batsman Sohaib Maqsood in the Twenty20 squad. There were a number of recalls,including Imran Farhat who will open with Khurram Manzoor,who last played in 2010 in Australia. Former captain Younis Khan,Azhar Ali,Adnan Akmal and pacer Ehsan Adil were all recalled into the Test side. Also recalled to the T20 and ODI squads was allrounder Anwar Ali,who last played in 2009 in a T20 series in Canada.

MCA elections on August 12

* The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is expected to announce the date of its biennial elections on August 12 at its managing committee meeting in Mumbai. MCA president Ravi Savant had earlier said that the date for the elections would be decided in the managing committee meeting,which was scheduled for Tuesday. But the meeting was put off to the following Monday,according to Joint Secretary Dr P V Shetty. As per MCA’s memorandum of rules and regulations the announcement needs to be made 44 days prior to the election date,and could now be held not before September 24. Union Agriculture Minister,Sharad Pawar has expressed his desire to return as president,Savant had said.
