A year after his Man of the Tournament performance in India’s World Cup campaign,Yuvraj Singh, recuperating from cancer treatment in the US,put up an online video in which he recalled his memories of India’s triumph. Excerpts:

On victory celebrations

All you can remember is flying colours of the flag, the Wankhede in joy and an Indian dream coming to reality. Winning the World Cup was everything to us,especially to do it for Sachin.

On Tendulkar’s words to him before the WC

I didn’t expect to play as well as I did. I was coming with not great form and I wasn’t timing the ball like I wanted to. I just spoke to Sachin about my issues with batting and form and fitness and he told me “you will matter when it matters the most”.

On QF against Australia

The pressure was immense when Dhoni got out. I said to myself,“If we lose one more wicket, this moment is never going to come back.” I just stuck to what I had planned, which was I’m not going to hit the ball in the air.
