With the unexpectedly early exit of Olympians Jitender and Diwakar Prasad,the fans gathered to take in the action on the second day of the AK Misra boxing championship would’ve been hoping for better fare from the Indian contingent.

Young Nanao Singh gave them reason to cheer. The boxer,who was the first Indian to win a gold at the AIBA World Youth Boxing Championships,outclassed Pramjeet Singh of Chandigarh 11-1 in a one-sided flyweight match to make it to the semi-finals.

Balwinder,Youth Commonwealth Games 2008 gold medalist,snuffed out the challenge of Kazakhstan’s Mustafin 9-7 to reach the semi-finals of the light welterweight category. Earlier,Bajrang,who upset World Military Games gold medalist P Narjit Singh on Thursday,failed to repeat his performance and bowed down 8-3 to Torak Kharpran.
