It was another day of high drama at the Rajasthan Cricket Association as the face-off between president Lalit Modi and secretary Subhash Joshi intensified. The two officials, who have been involved in allegations and counter-allegations over the last week, were involved in an angry exchange at the RCA office.

Allegations that Modi was trying to smuggle out documents from the RCA office resulted in an altercation between the two groups. The police rushed to the scene to bring things under control.

Later both the camps painted contrasting picture of the day’s events.

Those in Modi’s camp said that Joshi’s presence wasn’t needed in the RCA office as his powers had been curtailed. Joshi reiterated that he was still the elected secretary.

“I am the elected secretary. He (Modi) can’t take away my powers. Even the registrar of the cooperative societies has adopted our constitution, so Modi now does not have the absolute powers as president,” he said, alleging that Modi had tried to smuggle important papers out of the office.

Later in the day,Modi was at the Superintendent of Police office where he was summoned to record his statement in connection to a complaint filed against him at the Jyoti Nagar police station in Jaipur. The complaint alleged that Modi misused Rs 22 lakh out of a total amount of Rs 7 crore that was granted to the Rajasthan Cricket Academy by BCCI for the year 2007-08.
