The death toll in the dam burst in Indonesian capital Jakarta has touched 93 with the recovery of 33 more bodies, media reports said on Sunday.

More than hundred people are still missing even as a joint search and rescue team has recovered 33 more bodies on Saturday evening in Cirenundeu Tangerang near Jakarta, rescue officials said.

“The bodies, found from the thick mud and building rubble, were difficult to be identified,” a local media quoted rescue team coordinator Ahmad Dahlan as saying.

Many victims are not registered because they were university students who rented rooms in the neighbourhood unit,” Bejo,an official of the severely damaged unit was quoted as saying by China’s Xinhua news agency.

Of the 93 victims,62 of them are women,Rahmat Salam,a National Disaster Emergency Centre official said adding that 102 others are still missing.

The powerful flash flood had crashed through Jakarta’s crowded Cirendeu suburb in the early hours of Friday when most people were sleeping.

The heavy rain obliterated a 255-metre-long section of the dam at around 4 am (local time),releasing a wall of water from the lake that some survivors said reminded them of the deadly tsunami that hit Indonesia in 2004.
