The Delhi Daredevils released Mohammad Asif on Monday after both the parties decided to mutually part ways.

Asif and Daredevils officials have been in discussions for the last two days about his continuation with the team.

“Asif and Delhi Daredevils have had meetings over the past two days and following the discussions have mutually agreed to the release of Asif from the team as per his request,” a statement read.

With a pending IPL Dope Tribunal hearing and past offences,Asif staying with the Daredevils team was always in the doubt.

“Due to my personal reasons I’m having to take this step, and it has not been easy requesting for this as I still have a contract valid for another two seasons, with lucrative financial benefits,” Asif said. “My only purpose and wish is to play for Pakistan again.”
