LONDON: Yuvraj Singh,recovering in London after his treatment in a US hospital for germ cell cancer,got a morale-boosting visit by his idol Sachin Tendulkar. The two met for an hour at an apartment of Yuvraj’s friend on Wednesday. Yuvraj had dedicated his 2011 World Cup Player-of-the-Tournament award to the senior batsman.

Hinds charged with rape

BRIDGETOWN: West Indies cricketer Ryan Hinds has been charged with rape but was released on bail after appearing before a magistrate court in Bridgetown. The 31-year-old,who played 15 Tests and 14 ODIs for the West Indies team,is accused of raping a 28-year-old woman last month.

Tamim to play for Pune

Pune: Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has signed up for Pune Warriors,becoming the side’s eleventh overseas player and its second signing this week after Australian captain Michael Clarke,for the upcoming Indian Premier League. The left-hander is the second signing from Bangladesh after Shakib Al Hasan in this year’s IPL.

Poor planning hurt: Raina

New Delhi: India batsman Suresh Raina on Thursday admitted that poor planning resulted in his team’s recent Test series whitewash against England and Australia. “I think we did not plan really well against the Aussies and England. We learnt from those mistake and moved to good cricket,” said Raina. “We have done really well in ODIs. Hopefully,we’ll improve in Test matches also.”

Ryder comeback in IPL

WELLINGTON: Troubled New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder will return to cricket after a self-imposed layoff when he plays for the Pune Warriors in next month’s IPL. Ryder hasn’t played since he was suspended from breaking team rules by drinking alcohol while injured after New Zealand’s second ODI against South Africa.
