The Congress said the BJP’s decision to elevate Narendra Modi as the party’s campaign committee chief was the beginning of its “complete degeneration” and that the immediate repercussion was L K Advani’s resignation from all party posts.

Digvijaya Singh said Modi he has always betrayed those who have nurtured him. Having called the BJP “ungrateful” for sidelining Advani, the Congress general secretary said Advani was the man who took the tally of BJP from two in 1984 to 182. “If this person has demanded some more time and asked to wait for a while,or demanded setting up of two committees including one headed by Nitin Gadkari, what was the problem in waiting for a while. After all they were not going to miss a plane.”

Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said Modi’s anointment as the BJP’s election panel chief does not bother the Congress. This,he said,”is the beginning of the complete degeneration of the BJP. It will have its own repercussions.”
