Mohun Bagan crossed a hurdle on their way to regaining the title as they beat Mohammedan Sporting by a solitary first-half goal in an absorbing 15th round match of the I-League championship at Salt Lake Stadium. The goal was smartly netted by Bagan medio James Singh early in the first half. With this victory,Bagan maintained the top position in the league table with 33 points,two points ahead of their nearest rival Sporting Clube de Goa.

In Margao,Chandrashekar Chinta’s solitary goal helped Sporting Clube de Goa beat Churchill Brothers 1-0 to keep their title hopes alive. Sporting took the lead in the sixth minute of the match when Chinta took full advantage of a defensive lapse from Thokchom Naoba Singh and leapt over the defender to head the ball past the outstretched hands of Churchill custodian Arindam Bhattacharya.
