Though he has recovered fully, things aren’t getting any easier for RP Singh his first assignment after the lay-off will be the Ranji final, against a Mumbai line-up that has been scoring runs at will.

He talks to the The Indian Express,he talks about the match, learning from Zaheer Khan, and more. Excerpts.

Are you fully fit now?

I am feeling better and looking forward to an interesting Ranji final. The way we won our semi-final was remarkable and everybody gained confidence after that win. The team is doing well — this is the third time in four years that we’ve come so far.

This is the first time you will be playing against Tendulkar. Any plans for him?

One can’t make any plans for Tendulkar, ask any bowler. He has reached a level where it’s hard to even beat him. We can bowl at a perfect line and length and see how things go.

What are your thoughts about being up against Zaheer Khan?

I have learnt lot for him. He is in such good form right now that it will be tough to tackle him,but at the same time,we are confident of putting up a good show.

You and Zaheer had fantastic outings in England last year.

Yes,we did well there. He had played in England earlier, and was familiar with the conditions. We never went into the technical details but he guided me on where I could generate more swing and how. We always planned things before every match.

Apart from Tendulkar and Zaheer,Mumbai has a strong batting line-up.

They do,and as I said earlier,it will be a tough challenge. Mumbai are at full strength, but we are also a good side. We have a good batting line-up,and a good pace and spin attack. We too have a good chance.

Have you set any goals for yourself going into the match ?

Not really,I just want to go and bowl. It will be better if we go and enjoy the game. Thankfully,I have recovered from my shoulder injury and am raring to go.
