The Mumbai Cricket Associations (MCA) restructred Kanga League is all set to kick off this Sunday and this season will also see the debut of Sachin Tendulkars son Arjun Tendulkar making his debut.
The 13-year-old will be playing for Young Parsee Cricket Club in G Division of Kanga League, now called as Summer Vacation Shield. Arjun Tendulkar has so far played most of his cricket at the age-group level and playing the Kanga League will help him with some big-match experience. Arjun Tendulkar though, will not be the youngest cricketer in the legue. That credit will fall to eight year old Mushir Khan, who is set to make his debut in the G division too,for Sportsfield Cricket Club. The left-arm spinner is most likely the youngest player to play Kanga League cricket in the last 20 years.
His father Naushad, who is also the captain of the Sportsfield side in which his son will play, says Mushir impressed in the lead-up to the tournament.
He has been taking 3-4 wickets in practice games and got the wickets of several senior guys. The way Mushir is bowling,it is high time we gave him a break. I will be playing too and being a left-arm orthodox bowler myself,I will be able to guide him, Naushad said.
