A 19-year-old woman was allegedly abducted in a car from the Outer Ring Road near Chirag Dilli on Wednesday night, sedated and raped by three men who took her to Gurgaon and later dumped her. Police said an auto-rickshaw dropped her outside the Nanakpura gurdwara in South Delhi on Thursday morning. She was found in semi-nude condition, heavily sedated and her speech incoherent.

Police said the woman, who is married and hails from Nepal, works as a domestic help in a Defence Colony house, which is not very far from the place she lives. A tea stall vendor, who found her on a footpath, said she used a stone to scrawl her name,Delhi address and the word Nepal in Hindi on the ground.

According to police, the woman left her employer’s house at 10 pm on Wednesday and reached Chirag Dilli where her brother lives. But she found the house locked and decided to head home.

In her statement to police, the woman said she was walking when a silver-colour car pulled up and a man asked her for directions to the Outer Ring Road. She said she gave him the directions. The time then was 10.30 pm. “The man asked me where I was headed and offered to drop me near my house. On the way, three more people got into the car,” police quoted her as having said.

She said the driver stopped the car and stepped out, leaving her with the three men. One of them gave her a drink and she began losing consciousness. “In semi-conscious state,I heard the men say they were taking me to Gurgaon. I remember seeing a big gate and the car entering. After that,I passed out,” she told police.

When she regained consciousness,it was morning and she was in an open area, possibly a ground. Police said she probably flagged down an auto-rickshaw which dropped her near a subway adjoining the Nanakpura gurdwara. She was spotted by passersby who alerted the police control room.

Police said they were still trying to join the dots to get an exact picture of what really happened. They were unable to speak to the woman for most part of the day as she was sedated.

Incidentally, the woman’s husband made no call to the police or her employers even though she did not return home at night, police said.

“We are trying to identify the accused. A case of gangrape will be registered at the Malviya Nagar police station. The victim told us that she was taken to a guesthouse in Gurgaon in a car. But she has not been able to give clear answers on where exactly did they drop her and why the auto-rickshaw left her in Moti Bagh. Her husband did not inform police she was missing,” Special Commissioner (Law & Order) Deepak Mishra said.

DCP (South) Chhaya Sharma said the woman had been changing her statement. “She has been giving incoherent replies to our queries. We are waiting for her to feel better and will then take her statement,” she said.

Surender Kumar, who alerted police after he spotted her near the gurdwara, said he had gone to drop his children to the school bus stop shortly after 7 am when he saw her. “I asked her what had happened but she did not reply. When I asked her if someone had raped or misbehaved with her,she nodded. I asked her how many people raped her,she indicated three with her fingers,” Kumar said.
