Mumbai: 24-year-old attacks friend over Rs 500, arrested

THE VIKHROLI police on Wednesday arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly attacking his friend with a glass bottle for not returning Rs 500 that the victim owed him.

As per police, the incident took place around 10.10 pm on Tuesday when Rajesh Chavan (29), a resident of Kannamwar Nagar in Vikhroli (east), met his neighbourhood friend Narendra Chundawat (24) over a drink.

During their discussion, Narendra brought up the topic of the Rs 500 that Rajesh owed him.

They then got into an altercation over whether Rajesh had returned him the amount or not. “Alleging that Rajesh had not paid the amount back, Narendra got into a fit of rage and and hit him on the head with the beer bottle. He then used one of the glass pieces to attack Rajesh on his throat,” said an officer from Vikhroli police station.

Those present at the spot rushed Rajesh to a hospital, while Narendra has been overpowered by others and handed over to the Vikhroli police station. Rajesh is currently said to be out of danger.
