After plying extra buses during late-nights for festival revellers and tourists in the city during Ganeshotsav, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will run extra buses this week to curb inconvenience during the Mount Mary fair and Bakri Eid.

The extra services, which began from Sunday, will continue till next week in and around Bandra, at gaps of 10 to 15 minutes.

A BEST official said the number of buses will be increased over the weekend when the crowd is expected to surge to thousands.

In the mornings, around 12 to 35 extra buses will ply on the route and the number will increase to 16 and 40 in the evening. On September 13 and September 14 – Bakri Eid – the BEST will run a total of 90 extra buses.

Last week, for Ganpati pandal-hoppers, the BEST had started late night services from midnight till 6am on specific routes. The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation too had started special Ganesh darshan tours for six of the most popular pandals in the city including Lalbaugcha Raja, GSB mandal at Sion and Andhericha Raja.
