Ludhiana: Woman, domestic help killed in robbery attempt

Sources said that they picked up the safe and put it in Handa’s car but they couldn’t find the keys of the car and fled when neighbours raised an alarm.

A woman and her domestic help were killed by robbers late evening Tuesday in Model Town area. According to the police sources, a group of five-six men barged into the house of Prithvi Pal Handa, owner of Handa Dairy, armed with hockey sticks and iron rods.

Police said the domestic help, Harish, tried to stop them but they assaulted him with iron rods, killing him instantly. Then they asked Handa’s wife, Sujata, for the keys to the the safe and also demanded other valuables. When she refused, they attacked her, too.

Sources said that they picked up the safe and put it in Handa’s car but they couldn’t find the keys of the car and fled when neighbours raised an alarm. Sujata was rushed to hospital but she died on the way.
