BJP MLA from Muzaffarnagar, Kapil Dev Agarwal, suffered serious injuries after two youths threw red chilli powder on his eyes while he was holding a grievance redressal camp at his residence on Monday. The party has alleged that the attack was politically motivated.
The incident took place when the Agarwal was speaking to some locals in his living room at his house at Nai Mandi His police gunners chased the miscreants and even fired at them, but they managed to flee. The MLA was rushed to a nearby private hospital.
“Two youths, one of whom has been identified as Kapil Kumar, entered the MLA’s house, the third waited outside on a motorcycle. After speaking to the MLA for around 10 minutes, the duo threw red chilly powder on his eyes and fled. An FIR has been lodged against three youths and raids are being conducted to arrest them,” said Muzaffarnagar SSP Deepak Kumar.
Agarwal said Kapil Kumar is also a resident of Nai Mandi. “Kapil has been in touch with me for several months now as he wanted to work for BJP. Even today, he started the conversation with this topic. I do not know why he threw red chilly powder on me,” said the MLA, adding that the move was politically motivated.
“Someone has provoked him, otherwise no one can dare indulge in such acts,” said the MLA.
