We all want to change the world but how about making a difference while you are asleep? You might ask, “Is this even possible”? We say, yes! Famous A-list celebrity photographer and philanthropist Jeremy Cowart has come up with a brilliant idea. Known as ‘The Purpose Hotel’, the venture aims to bring in a change in the travel industry while helping the underprivileged around the world. So, what exactly is your contribution going to be? Just a simple check-in. Wait, don’t dismiss us yet. It’s a very noble idea and one that might actually work.
The door of each room in the hotel will tell the story of a child and your presence will help sponsor the child’s education. As part of the plan, an interactive TV feature will be installed in the hotel where guests can see and interact with all the organisations ‘The Purpose Hotel’ will be connected with. Also, every item in the hotel will be made by unprivileged people or surviours of social atrocities, giving them an opportunity to make their life better. For instance, the blankets in the rooms will be sewn by human trafficking survivors. According to Cowart, “The Purpose Hotel is a rallying point. It’s a junction where community, justice, microenterprise, technology, art and design intersect.” They will also employ underprivileged people on a full-time basis. If the dream turns into reality then, the guests staying at the hotel will not just receive a receipt of the expense but will also have details of the how the money spent had an impact on a person’s life.
In order to get things rolling, Cowart started a crowd funding initiative on Kickstart. The idea is already a hit and it has surpassed their expectations. On the campaign’s page, the photographer said, “Founded on the belief that what unites us is more powerful than the boundaries that divide us, The Purpose Hotel will be built communally on the internet.” He said, anyone who contributes to the cause will be not just a donor or contributor but will be a co-founder, will only a contribution of $75 or higher.
