We all know how water can do you a world of good. Drinking water can help wash out the toxins from your body and boost your metabolism. Now, add the nutritious benefits fruits to the mix, and you have yourself a great combination. So, what better way to increase your water intake than to infuse it with fruits! Wouldn’t it be great if water could give you most, if not all, the energy and nutrients your body requires? Nutritionists believe that citrus fruits are the best when it comes to preparing infused water because they are rich in vitamins.

We spoke to nutritionist Mrittika Ganguly from Abbott Nutrition and here’s what she had to say.

“Infused water helps in cutting out the fat and losing weight because it is filled with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. It is definitely healthier than plain water intake and boots immunity and metabolism process. Citrus fruits have Vitamin C which is healthy for the body and are mostly used in this drink. Even a drink like Virgin Mojito could be healthy, though it’s better to avoid aerated beverages.”

She adds, “It increases collagen production, which in return slows down the ageing process. It also increases digestion and eliminates toxins from the body.”

The following fruits can be used to make infused water, and here are since of their health benefits:

*Grapefruit: Rich in phytonutrients, vitamin A and C
*Grapes: Rich in antioxidants, flavonoids and resveratrol
*Lemon: Low in calories and good for the immune system
*Strawberry: Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants
*Raspberry: Full of fibre and vitamins
*Cucumber: Contains Vitamin B and anti-cancer components
*Lime: Aids in digestion and contains antioxidants
* Oranges: Rich in vitamin C.

Would you like to make infused water at home? Here are four types of fruity infusions you could try. Drink away to good health!

Tangerine, Cucumber, Kiwi and Mint water
*Slice tangerine, cucumber and kiwi first (as per your requirement) and then put the fruit slices in a jug of water.

*Put 2-3 leaflets of mint.

*Stir the mixture for a minute and let it cool in the fridge.

*Take it out from the fridge after two hours and enjoy.

Strawberries, Blueberries and Pineapple water
*Cut strawberries and pineapples (as per your requirement) into small pieces.

*In a jug of water, put in the blueberries, strawberries and pineapples.

*Stir it for a minute and let it cool in the fridge.

*Take it out from the fridge after two hours and enjoy.

Watermelon, Cucumber, Lime and Mint water
*Dice the watermelon and cut out cucumber slices.

*Add the chopped fruits into a jug of water.

*Squeeze a few drops of lime juice into it and add the mint leaves.

*Stir for a minute and let it cool for two hours.

Lemon, Tangerine, Raspberries and Mint water
*Slice the lemon and tangerine.

*Put in the lemon, tangerine and raspberries into the water.

*Add the mint leaves and let it cool for two hours in the fridge.

*Take it out and enjoy your drink.
