We Indians really do love our food, and let’s be honest, no celebration is complete without dozens of plates filled with sumptuous fare, and glasses of cold/hot beverage to wash all that down. Then, why should a celebration of India’s freedom be any different?
On August 15, those who haven’t gotten away for the long weekend would probably be chilling out at home, catching up on the Rio Olympics or their favourite movies or TV shows. But why not try and bring the patriotic fervour home, and add a dash of colour to the special day. As India celebrates 70 years of Independence, raise a toast with a tricolour-inspired mocktail. Created by Bar Captain Jai Kishan, AANCH, Rajouri Garden, Delhi, the colours in the cooling beverage are an homage to the Indian national flag, and look absolutely stunning in a tall, chilled glass.
So, what are you waiting for? Just get these basic ingredients, whip out a yummy mocktail, and raise your glasses in celebration.
2 tbsp – Kiwi syrup (easily available in market)
2 tbsp – Cream-based soda
2 tbsp – Orange syrup
1/2 tbsp – Sugar syrup
Crushed ice – As needed
* Take a tall glass.
* First, pour in the Kiwi syrup, then cream-based soda and add some crushed ice.
* Pour in the orange syrup at the top of the glass.
* Put some crushed ice again. Add sugar syrup on to the top. Do not mix it. This may need a little practice and patience but the outcome will be refreshing to your taste buds.
* Serve the chilled Trio Mania Mocktail.
