Gin drinkers, rejoice! A four floors gin-themed hotel called ‘The Distillery’, with three boutique guest rooms overlooking the market street on Portobello Road is all set to open on December 16 in London.
The ground floor will have a ‘Resting Room’ with gin barrels suspended from the ceiling, offering spirits from around the world. Meanwhile, the first floor will have a GinTonica restaurant and bar designed to celebrate the classic bowl-shaped gin glass, the Copa de Balon. And on the top floor, guests can enjoy a private dining room called the Boardroom, complete with a bar and the three boutique guest rooms, each with a minibar and record player.
According to the Metro, a spokesperson for the hotel said, “Guests can enjoy a considered selection of international spirits that have been aged in hand-built barrels suspended above the bar from which they will be directly served. Due to the spirit’s ongoing ageing process within the barrel, no two drinks will be the same.”
Meanwhile, founder of Portobello Road Gin and The Distillery Ged Feltham said, “We already have bookings for The Distillery from across Europe and even as far afield as South Africa – and the positive response to the project so far has been overwhelming! Not only does the new distillery mean we can continue to produce our product on Portobello Road, it has allowed us to expand our hugely successful gin-making experience, ‘The Ginstitute’, which had outgrown it’s original venue.”
Ginstitute is a place where guests can learn how to make their own gin and also learn about the history of gin. Rooms start at £125 per night.
