Celebrity fitness: Here’s how Deepika Padukone’s preparing for her debut Hollywood film

In a series of videos shared by Deepika Padukone's fitness trainer on Instagram, the actress is seen lifting weights and doing pull-ups to get into shape for her upcoming Hollywood debut.

It seems to be a good run for Indian actresses in Hollywood this season, but that’s not the only good part. The interesting thing is to see how Western directors are casting these actresses as strong, action-oriented women who can hold their own — and maybe shoulder a bit of their partner’s share of the action as well.

First Priyanka Chopra as an FBI agent in Quantico, and now Deepika Padukone in the third instalment of the action-thriller “XXX” film franchise, where the Bajirao Mastani actress will share screen with Hollywood Vin Diesel and Samuel L Jackson.

As a run-up to the shooting of XXX: The Return of Xander Cage in February this year, Padukone has been training hard with celebrity fitness trainer Yasmin Karachiwala.

Karachiwala has been sharing videos of Padukone’s training sessions on her Instagram account, where the actress can be seen lifting weights, doing deadlifts and performing muscle-building exercises that would give her a more toned and fit look for her role.

According to reports, Padukone’s fitness regime under Karachiwala entails heavy weight training that include 200-pound leg presses, bosu ball training and TRX suspension training. This regimen is quite a few notches tougher from her previous routine that involved Pilates.

The series of videos just doesn’t seem to stop. Yasmin’s keeping the actor busy with torso building and core strengthening exercises like training with powerbags and also toning exercises like squats and thrusts.

Ever since we remember, Deepika (also an erstwhile national level badminton player), has been at the peak of her health and a dedicated fitness freak too, minus the bouts of depression that she went through. These videos and of course her svelte figure is a testimony to that.

The actor makes exercises like box jumps, bench overs, squat jacks and mountain climbers look like a piece of cake.

As it’s there for everyone to see, Deepika has started 2016 on a strong note. Here’s wishing her more power!
