Arguably one of the most-awaited fashion shows of the year, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was just filmed at the Grand Palais in Paris. And though it may not have been the raciest show so far, industry insiders are calling it the laciest catwalk event of the year. The models, popularly known as Angels, walked the ramp wearing the most spectacular lingerie creations that simply wowed the fashion world. But the star attraction – as is the case every year – was the Fantasy Bra.
The Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra was showcased by California model Jasmine Tookes, who sashayed down the ramp wearing the jewel-encrusted piece. Glimmering with around 9,000 gemstones – including diamonds and emeralds – the 2016 Fantasy Bra is considered an incredible work of art, designed by Eddie Borgo. It was hand-crafted over 700 hours with gems from jeweller AWMouzannar.
The 25-year-old model was apparently extremely nervous before the show. “I was freaking out backstage,” she told Reuters. “I was so scared I would walk on the runway and start tearing up, but I kept it together.”
This is the third time a black model has been chosen to model the Fantasy Bra. Tookes said the garment was constructed on a mould of her upper body, literally made to measure. While the bra may be perfect for the runway presentation, Tookes joked she probably wouldn’t want to go for a jog in it, given its weight.
“It’s very heavy; it weighs more than 450 karats. It weighs down on my shoulders a little bit, but it’s so worth it,” she told AP, cheekily adding, “I might jog out of this show with it though.”
Lat’s year’s Fantasy Bra, comprising diamonds, yellow sapphires, blue topaz and pink quartz and set in gold, was modelled by Lily Aldrige and priced at $2 million.
