Survivor of an acid attack that disfigured her face in 2014, 19-year-old Mumbai resident Reshma Qureshi walked the ramp Friday for designer Archana Kochhar for a parallel show at the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) to huge applause.

“I am hoping my participation in this runway will inspire hope and confidence in other acid attack survivors, that they can lead a normal life,” PTI quoted Qureshi in a post-show statement.

“The meaning of beauty has to be redefined – it goes beyond limitations of height, size (and) colour. The point of bringing Reshma on board was to sensitise people about disbility,” said Kochhar. Qureshi opened the show for Kochhar in a full-length white dress with colourful embroidery.
