You have to admit, there is nothing like a dash of floral accessorising to your hair that adds a very feminine touch. The obsession with floral hair ornaments can be gauged from the popularity of Snapchat’s pretty floral crown filter. But nothing beats real life, does it? And Indian women are no strangers to beautifully weaving flowers in their long tresses. Glitters and pretty hair accessories dominated for a while, but with celebs now flaunting their lovely updos with floral flourishes, this trend is back with a bang. In the last couple of months, we have seen it on divas like Malaika Arora Khan, Parineeti Chopra and Jacqueline Fernandez, among others.
Here’s a look at how they paired it up with their outfits.
Dia Mirza brought in the festive spirit in a bright ensemble by Anita Dongre. We think the outfit was gorgeous and celebrity stylist Theia Tekchandaney did a good job by accessorising it with jewellery from Anita Dongre Pink City. Her hair game was spot on with a low bun, side braids and major flower power. Her make-up was perfect too with a dewy sheen, soft pink lips, smokey eyes and some golden shimmer. Malaika Arora Khan looked stunning in a Tarun Tahiliani lehenga. She turned up the jewellery game with traditional blings from Johri By Amaze. The pop of deep red on those lips, a pulled-back low bun with flowers that celebrates the model-actor’s high cheekbones gave the whole ensemble the risque oomph it needs.
Jacqueline Fernandez was a vision in traditional Indian wear. The Raw Mango sari was a beauty and the actress wore it well with jewellery from Sri Hari Diagems and an updo complete with mogra.
Parineeti Chopra was seen draped in a traditional sari from Jade by Monica & Karishma. Celebrity stylist Sanjana Batra complemented the look with traditional temple-style jewellery and gold jhumkas. Her make-up and hair was perfect too, as she matched the pink of her lip shade to that of her sari and went with winged eyeliner and a bindi to define her look. A braided updo with a gajra rounded it off. We do believe this might just be the first time Chopra has been seen in this avatar, and we love it. If she goes the traditional way more often, we at least won’t be complaining! (Source: Instagram/Sanjana Batra)
For veteran designer Manish Malhotra’s Ganesh Puja celebrations, Sophie Choudry picked a red pleated anarkali and gold bandhini dupatta by the designer. With hair in an updo and mogra to accentuate it, she finished the look with Eina Ahluwalia gold jhumkis. We think she looked lovely in its simplicity and that dupatta was a beauty. Taapsee Pannu looked lovely in a Priyal Prakash lehenga. She finished the look with flowers in her hair and jewellery from Tarun Tahiliani.
Lara Dutta looked like a royal in an elegant kurti and lehenga combo from Sukriti & Aakriti. The actress paired it up brilliantly with gilted earrings and a clutch from Anthropologie. Her make-up and hair was spot on too with a dramatic smokey eye, soft-brown lips, and hair in a slick low bun with gajra.
