Deepika Padukone goes ’80s vintage with Sabyasachi, dons velvet and pearls

We think the loose-fit dress by Sabyasachi with a low back is a beauty! Can't say the same about the clustered pearl Isharya neck-piece though.

Bollywood biggies were at their glamorous best as always but the one person who caught our eyes was Deepika Padukone! The actress was spotted in a velvet loose-fit dress by Sabyasachi with a low back. Now, velvet is a very tricky material to pull off but she did it so effortlessly.

Padukone paired it with a clustered pearl Isharya neck-piece, black strappy heels and a Saint Laurent shoulder bag. Even though the overall appearance was nice – and stylist Shaleena Nathani did not have to try too hard to make her look like a diva (because she already is) – we think a different choice of neckpiece would have worked better here. For us, the chunky pearl necklace was a little over the top and a bit off proportion vis-à-vis the overall look. Don’t you think?

Having said that, we can’t find any faults with her hair and make-up, though. Daniel Bauer did an amazing job with nude lips, soft smoky eyes and some new but major contouring technique called make-up drapping. The make-up artist even shared an up-close photo on his Instagram account with the caption: “Hair and makeup for Deepika, with particularly stunning styling from Shaleena. Semi nude lips, soft smokey eyes using a hint of brown shimmer, focussing on the outer corners for that fuller eye effect, contouring with a pink blusher to help achieve that ping of energy to finish the look. The new contouring is makeup drapping #danielbauermakeupandhair #shaleenanathani #deepikapadukone #makeuptips #80sareback.”

A very clean and minimalist look, we say.
