The nip in the air says winter’s almost upon us, just the time to get our clothing racks ready for the transition. Even before the leaves turn all shades of ombre, we get ready to dress up for the season. What we are looking for: complete ensembles for a casual evening out.
Our first stop is the recently launched Swedish brand H&M at the Select Citywalk mall, whose opening day in India last month registered exorbitant footfall and steep sales — Rs 1.75 crore. Inside, it’s an overdose of gloss and shimmer, be it sheer shirts, leather skirts, sweaters, floral dresses or the leather boots.
We leave them behind, guided by our love for minimal fuss and choose an elegant black knee-length lace skirt (Rs 3,999) that works well inside an office as well as after hours. We team it with a pearly white blouse (Rs 2,299), a black leather bag (Rs 2,699) and black suede heels (Rs 5,499). A pair of gold tinted cuff earrings worth Rs 399 finish off the look.
At GAP, the mecca of casual dressing, we refuse to give in to the rows of ubiquitous logo-driven sweatshirts. Instead, we quickly move to a soft peach shift dress with a back zip (Rs 5,499). We mix it up with a black faux leather jacket (Rs 8,999) for a biker-girl-meets-Cinderella look and finish it off with an adventurous, rock-chic pair of black combat boots (Rs 6,999).
It’s hard to be disappointed at our next stop, Zara. The first item to catch our eye is a black, satin crop top (Rs 1,290) with quarter sleeves. With these, we team up a pair of breezy polka-dot palazzo trousers (Rs 2,990). A pair of classic black leather stilettos (Rs 3,990) and plain gold-tinted hoop earrings (Rs 990) set the stage for the rest of the day.
