Alia Bhatt looks stunning in this black playsuit, but what went wrong with the make-up?!

Not only did the pink-peach eyeshadow and blush not work, but the execution was far from perfect, giving Alia Bhatt's face an orange-ish colour.

There is no denying Alia Bhatt – who just won the GK quiz round on Kofee with Karan – has turned out to be quite the fashion role model for India’s young girls. If today’s 20-somethings look at Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra for the latest in style trends, the younger generation is growing up emulating the Dear Zindagi actress to a T. And the good thing is, Bhatt does not disappoint.

Growing up to be one of Bollywood’s most loved actresses, Bhatt’s style quotient has largely tilted towards casual chic, almost giving a ‘girl next door’ kind of vibe each time. This doesn’t mean the Highway girl hasn’t carried off a sophisticated look – because she defintely has. The most recent example of that would be the gorgeous white Emporio Armani pantsuit she wore on a recent episode of Koffee With Karan, on which she appeared alongside Shah Rukh Khan.

Bhatt has often experimented with her ensembles, going from knee-length frocks to the stunning lace jumpsuit by Cynthia Rowley she sported earlier this month. Well, adding to her wide-range of black wardrobe essentials is this lovely black playsuit by Lavish Alice, which she wore to the launch of the November 2016 issue of the fashion magazine Filmfare.

Styled by celebrity stylist Ami Patel – who has often wowed us with her magic – Bhatt looked stunning in this one-shoulder ensemble with a unique tuxedo-inspired lapel and panel in the front. She complemented the playsuit with a pair of strappy black heels, carrying off the attire really well. But what we cannot get over is that complete botch-up of a make-up job that makes her look orange! (And in post-Donald Trump winning the US elections era, looking orange cannot be considered a compliment.)

Head stylist Priyanka Borkar did her hair in a tight, sleek ponytail that highlights the actress’ high cheekbones, but the make-up by Puneet B Saini was just off. Not only did the pink-peach eyeshadow and blush not work, but the execution was far from perfect, giving Bhatt’s face an orange-ish colour.

Had the make-up been softer and a deeper lip colour had been opted for, this look had the makings of being one of her best and experimental ones yet in 2016. Oh well, we can’t win them all, now can we!
