EL James’ the ‘Fifty Shades’ series is nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. On Anastasia Steele’s 27th birthday, the author took to Facebook to announce that a new book is on its way. James teased two pages of the narrative on September 10 saying, “Good morning, all. I know you’re anxiously awaiting the trailer, and that’s happening… soon. In the meantime, in honour of Ana’s birthday, there’s this.”

Tentatively titled ‘Fifty Shades Darker from Christian’s Point of View’, the book will likely be released in 2017 and it will continue where Christian Grey, the Seattle billionaire with a taste of BDSM, left off in the second part of the trilogy Fifty Shades Darker, retelling things from his perspective. The excerpt from the new book follows Grey as he waits in a car outside his ex-lover Steele’s office building.

“I sit. Waiting. My heart is thumping. It’s 5.36 and I stare through the tinted glass of my Audi at the front door of her building. I know I’m early but I’ve been looking forward to this moment all day….Opening my eyes, I stare at the front door through the Audi’s darkened glass that now reflects my mood,” the excerpt reads. “Nothing turns out as I expect with Miss Anastasia Steele. Panic knots my stomach once more.”

The original three novels – Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed – in the series were told from the point of view of Anastasia Steele, a college student who has a complicated relationship with entrepreneur Christian Grey but in 2015, James released a fourth book, Grey, that detailed the events of the first book from the businessman’s perspective. This book is going to do the same.
