For decades, Ekta Pehal has been fascinated with design, particularly when it’s related to home décor.
And that’s how Décor Festa, which speaks of and reflects her creativity finds a showcase. “Italy, Spain, Greece, Morocco… apart from appreciating the natural beauty of my favorite destinations, I was drawn to ceramics, glassware, mirrors, hand-crafted and immaculately done objects for different spaces in a home. And now that it has translated into a reality I want to share with others, through exhibitions and displays” said Pehal.
Focusing on conceptualising themes for different sections of a home, the exhibition, showcases the large repertoire of work that Pehal has done to create themes for different spaces of a home. On display is a range of glassware, ceramics, crockery, decorative items that Pehal has designed and made from various parts of the world and also India.
“There isn’t too much variety in ceramic-ware and what is striking is really expensive and that made me think of creating a line of theme-based and customized products. So, I did rough sketches, select colours, patterns, prints, combinations according to different themes, customised a range of glassware, coasters, centre-pieces, quirky items, mirrors, lamps, candleabras, etc,” said Ekta, whose range displayed at Himachal Bhawan, is inspired by Southern Europe and colours like Amalfi red, Spanish blue, smoky white, cheeky yellow, sea green, royal blue.
