We know about the great perseverance and dedication put in by photographers capturing the wildlife through their lens beating all odds. And there are many prestigious awards that recognize and celebrates such talent and the effort that they put in. Recently one such award – The Wildlife Photographer of the Year was announced by the Natural Historty Musuem, London and two Indians won the esteemed honour.

All wildlife photography awards not only cater to recognition of the shutterbug but also contribute to the wildlife conservation at large and in doing so another award was announced recently. But it comes with a little twist. Yes, the award titled as ‘The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards’ which was started only in 2015, celebrates the funny side of wildlife. The pictures up for the serious battle will make you laugh and melt you heart and we assure you there is hardly anything ‘beastly’ about it.

The second edition of the award was announced on November 9 and people are thrilled to see the happy pictures. From smiling frog to lizards that use toilets, the pictures for the competition were nothing but hilarious. Remember Marty from the Madagascar movies? Of course who can forget the delightful zebra, well he exists in real life! Yes, a photographer captured him grinning and flaunting all his teeth—was one of the photos shortlisted for the award.

Out of hundreds of such candid photographs only 40 made it to the final list and 16 made it to the winner’s list. Six winners were announced for the interesting prize in different categories while 10 others were regarded as ‘highly commended’.

The organisers announced the award on Facebook and Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year is Angela Bohlke with his hilarious capture of a snow fox. Titled ‘a tough day at office’ she was declared as the overall winner. As part of the winning prize, the photographer has got an all paid trip to Masai Mara, the Mecca for wildlife photography.

An Indian wildlife photographer, Anup Deodhar from Pune also made it to the final list. However, he did not win it but secured a position in the Highly commended category.
