Kolkata: Minors ‘rape’ Class VII student in Burdwan

Four minors have been booked for allegedly raping a student of Class VII at Kalna area in Burdwan district.

Four minors have been booked for allegedly raping a student of Class VII at Kalna area in Burdwan district.

The incident took place on September 18. According to the police complaint filed by the family of the victim, the girl was abducted by the four accused while she was returning home from a fair that was taking place near her residence.

The four reportedly carried her to a nearby field and gangraped her. Later, locals found her unconscious at the field and informed her parents. “The girl has been admitted to Kalna Sub-Division Hospital in a critical condition,” said a police officer.

The police complaint was filed on Monday evening, following which, one of the four accused was detained. The girl reportedly knew them, said police. “The main accused was detained and produced before the juvenile court. He was later sent to an observation home. We will soon detain the remaining accused,” said Burdwan SP Kunal Agarwal.
