As part of the party’s Dalit outreach, BJP’s top brass has asked Union ministers and senior functionaries to have a meal at a Dalit household while visiting different states as part of the Modi government’s third anniversary celebrations. “While they (Union ministers and party leaders) will talk about the achievements of the government and also ensure that they enroll as many people as they can with the party,” a Union minister said.

BJP functionaries, as well as ministers, have been given a set of instructions as the party celebrates its three years at the Centre. “They have been asked to pan out across the country, stay overnight in the northeast states, talk extensively about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, enroll members in the party and have at least one meal with a Dalit family,” the minister said.

Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma shared a meal with a Dalit family on Thursday at Nuapada during his visit to Odisha. He also registered 45 members of the household as BJP members. Earlier, Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal followed the party’s diktat and paid a visit to a Dalit home at the Ambedkar Colony in Hongasandra, Bommanahalli of Karnataka, where he ate breakfast cooked by the lady of the house. The leader later gushed about the food and the family’s hospitality.

Karnataka BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa has also been seen having food with Dalit families since the last fortnight. The trend began with the party chief Amit Shah visiting a Dalit family and sharing lunch with them in Telengana during his visit to the state between May 22-24.

Who cooked the food - higher caste cook or the Dalit bhai-bahan? Stop this nautanki and give real equality to Dalits, please.

Tokenism at its best. The same party was ridicul ing Rahul Ga-nd-hi for similar gestures earlier. With Adityanath's visit preceded by distribution of soaps for bathing dalits, the real face of BJP can't be hidden. There is an inherent high caste' hatred towards the outcasts & taking meals at the latter's houses gives the impression as if the Ministers were doing a favour to them. Until the minds of the disdainful high castes are not cleaned, there can't be any real Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan. Rhetoric and symbolism won't work for long as has been the wont of this government.

sharing one meal will not have effect in bringing cohesion. for the w community to get united it is essential that marital relationships are established among various groups within hindus. After all rich or highly educated upper category does not marry within his own group a poor or uneducated one implying that eventually it is prosperity and education of the individual marrying that matters. One can see hundreds of groups and categories on the matrimony classified adverti ts which project primitive thinking and a divided house resulting in division of votes and vote bank politics.

all anti-nationals are scared of dalit and farmers floaking towards BJP, that is why congi/commies are following scorched earth policy, creating riots in the name of these two groups all over the nation to stop such thing! But it is repeat of UP in all states in next round of elections!

Eating Dalit food will not make anyone nationalist. This BJP master is famous for his fake encounter conspiracy. His hooligan son Jay who never touched bat, ball in his life is now President of Gujarat State Cricket ociation.
