UP minor gangrape: BJP MLA, workers protest ‘police inaction’

The youths allegedly kidnapped the girl on November 16, raped her and later dropped her off in Ghaziabad.

BJP workers led by local MLA Vimla Solanki protested outside Sikandarabad police station on Wednesday demanding the arrest of four persons allegedly involved in the gangrape of a 13-year-old girl.

The youths allegedly kidnapped the girl on November 16, raped her and later dropped her off in Ghaziabad. Police rescued her on November 26 and returned her home. In her statement before a court, she had named the youths, who were also her neighbours, and claimed she was gangraped in Delhi.

The accused were identified as Sajab, Ujab, Saleem and Shehzad and were yet to be arrested. “If police failed to make arrest of the accused in three days, we would intensify the protest and would gherao the SSP Bulandshahr office,” said Vimla Solanki, BJP MLA from Sikandarabad constituency in Bulandshahr.

“The victim’s family met BJP district president two days ago and sought help regarding the case. They are facing threat from the relatives of the accused and did not participate in today’s demonstration.”
