An FIR has been registered against a person for allegedly using “objectionable” language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on social networking sites, police said Tuesday. The FIR lodged on Monday at the Sikanderpur Police Station names a person called Rohit Verma, who the police say is a resident of a locality under the police station area.

Superintendent of police Anil Kumar said the police have not been able to trace the accused, hence more details — like his age and real name (Rohit Verma is the name used on social networking sites) — could not be shared, reports PTI.

According to the SP, the accused has posted on Facebook and Twitter “objectionable” statements about the prime minister’s visit to the Arab nation and his relations with the media and the minority community. The accused also made certain “objectionable” statements against the UP chief minister, Kumar said.

The accused has been booked for trying to vitiate the atmosphere, he said.

This is a prime example of progressive dictatorship and the systematic elimination of "freedom of speech". Think of this.....The PM and the CM of UP have constantly used "objection language" against several members of the previous government, including the former PM, and the latter has been drumming up xenophobic statements against religious minorities.... Are these two people above the law? If not, then they need to be booked under the law too! And if they are not booked, then we can be certain that we are under the rule of a 'new imperialism', one that is far worse than the 'British imperialism', since now, we are being ruled by an indigenous cabal of ruthless marauders, whose prime aim is to seek revenge for any hint of criticism or dissent, at the cost of a systematic destruction of the democratic Republic.
