The Supreme Court on Friday refused to accept Calcutta High Court judge Justice CS Karnan’s petition for recall of his six-month jail term for contempt of court. The plea was deemed ‘not maintainable’ by the top court’s registry, news agency PTI reported. Justice Karnan had moved a petition in the apex court seeking recall of the May 9 order but was denied urgent hearing by the CJI.

“It is thus manifestly clear from the averments made in the petition that the petitioner intends to impugne and
challenge the judicial order passed by this court on May 9, 2017, in the suo motu petition. “The proceedings therein were decided on merits and after due consideration, it was held that Justice C S Karnan had committed contempt of the gravest nature resulting in finding of guilt. As a sequel the petitioner also stands convicted and sentenced to an imprisionment of six months. The said findings have since attained finality,” an apex court registrar, who deals with listing of fresh writ petitions, said in his order.

“I am constrained but to hold that the present writ petition is not maintainable. The relief if any lies some where else. I thus see no reasonable cause to receive the present writ petition for registration under the provisions of Supreme Court rules, 2013”, the registrar said.

Earlier this month, the apex court sentenced Justice CS Karnan to six months imprisonment for contempt of court. The court also banned media from publishing content of orders passed by Justice C S Karnan. The Supreme Court had taken suo motu cognisance of numerous letters written by him against judges of Madras High Court and the Supreme Court, and restrained him from exercising administrative and judicial power from February 8. Justice Karnan is due to retire in June this year.

With contempt of court charges against him, Justice Karnan is the first ever sitting judge of a higher court in judicial history to be sent to jail.

Bollywood diet and Congress administration was a good combination to make a joke of a nation! How did this man got through all the important stages in life to become a judge? Is it his fault alone?

Interesting! It is a test whether the Supreme Court can disciple the lower court judges or continue to let anarchy prevail.

Hope Kolkatta police would show that they are competent to trace this guy and put him behind bars. Other wise the very integrity of the force under the present rulers is questionable?? Jaihind

After the denial of SC now the Integrity of Mr. Karnan is at stake and if he is law abiding citizen let him first surrender from the hide-out , do not behave like an absconder or Criminal instead behave like a matured and Learned Judge and set an example for others to follow !!!If you had not done anything wrong why not face the case boldly at the SC and the likes of Jethmalnis, Kapil Sibals, Chidambarams etc., are ready to help you if you throw money at them !!!

What is at stake is not the integrity of Mr. Karnan. It is the integrity of the cons ution interpreted by this stupid court called supreme court that is at stake. No judge holding the rank in a high court or above can be tried like this according to the cons ution. The supreme court has become a kangaroo court. The judges manning the supreme court have become uncontrollable monsters. They need to be restrained. If Mr. Karnan has committed a crime, it must be tried as per law. Not through a Kangroo court.

Sir, Indian Supreme court surely is a Kangaroo court. 2.5 years ago Prashanta Bhushan was prevented from releasing 16 names of SC Judges who are tainted under the same threat:"Contempt of court". Instead he was asked to forward the names in a sealed envelope. He did. But that no CJI had the gall of opening the envelope. What could we say? There are lots of legal snobs in the country who support these bribe taking judges.

direct the concerned police authorities immediately arrest this rascal and put him in jail for 10 years . SC is simply wasting time in this regard. his arrest will give a boost to non-dalits in this country. RESERVATION OF SC/ST MUST BE S PED. NON DALTS ARISE AND MUST PROTEST FOR CONTGINUAGTION OF RESERVATION IN THIS COUNTRY AS IT IS AGAINST THE PRINCIPLES OF DR.AMBEDKAR.

Who will arrest the rascals sitting in the so called supreme court and try them when they are erring in the eyes of law? Can you? The rouge judges have erred in addressing the case of Mr. Karnan. There are established ways by which a person committing crime can be tried and sentenced. In this case regardless of the fact that Mr. Karnan has committed a crime or not, the way the stupid judges have conducted themselves is showing that they are worse than those manning kangaroo courts. This is highly dangerous and the rogue judges need to be restrained.
