Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna today said the Congress high command will take a final call on the party’s candidate for Tehri Lok Sabha seat,which will fall vacant after his resignation.
However,Bahuguna did not say whether he would like to field his wife Sudha from the Tehri seat.
“I will resign on July 23. Thereafter,the party high command will hold discussions with the leaders of the state Congress party. The candidate will be finalised by August 15,” Bahuguna said after meeting Union minister and another party heavyweight from the state Harish Rawat.
Declining to comment on the reports that he was keen on fielding his wife Sudha from the Tehri seat,the chief minister said that “high command will discuss the issue with all the party leaders from Tehri before finalising the candidate”.
Bahuguna said he held detailed discussion with Rawat on the Tehri Lok Sabha seat issue and the 2014 general elections.
He also thanked the Centre for giving a special aid of Rs 1,500 crore to the state.
“I have also discussed with Rawat how can we spend this amount. Out of this,Rs 800 crore is meant for building new projects like roads and bridges,” Bahuguna said,adding that he would give special focus on tourism sector of the state.
