Medium danger avalanche warning in Kashmir Valley

People living in these areas have been advised to take precautionary measures and not to venture out.

Authorities today issued a ‘medium danger’ avalanche warning in the snow-bound areas along the Line of Control in Kupwara and Bandipora districts following fresh snowfall.

Medium danger avalanche warning has been issued for snow-bound areas above 8000 feet of Keran,Machil in Kupwara and Gurez in Bandipora,Aamir Ali,coordinator Natural Disaster Management Cell,said.

People living in these areas have been advised to take precautionary measures and not to venture in avalanche-prone areas for the next 24 hours.

The hilly regions of the Kashmir Valley have been hit by several avalanches in the last month,including two massive avalanches which swept army camps in central Kashmir’s Sonamarg and north Kashmir’s Gurez region,killing 19 soldiers.
