IED blast kills 10-yr old in Poonch

The IED exploded at 10.30 am when victims were grazing cattle in the Bathidhar forests of border Poonch district.

A 10-year-old boy was killed and two others including a girl injured after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded at Bathidhar forests in Mendhar tehsil of border Poonch district on Saturday morning.

Official sources said that the IED exploded at 10.30 am when victims were grazing cattle in the forests. The IED appeared to have been planted by militants,sources added.

Deputy Inspector General of Police,Rajouri-Poonch range,SD Singh Jamwal identified the deceased as Waqar Ahmed,10,and the injured as Nahida Kousar,9,and Sayeeda Parveen,12. The injured have been shifted to the hospital by a police party.

The mother of the deceased was also accompanied the children,but she escaped unhurt as she was at a distance when IED exploded.

Bhatidhar forests is a militancy prone area where security forces and militant had nearly a ten day long encounter between themselves during January this year.
