Punjab: No cash, people protest outside banks

Similar protest was held outside PNB branch at Basti Danishmanda where people staged a dharna after they were informed that the bank has no cash left at their disposal.

Protests were held outside several banks in Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur on Monday due to shortage of currency on the first working day of the week.

In Jalandhar, the protest were organised in Model Town Market Branch of PNB and traffic was also blocked on the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur highway in Rama Mandi. At the PNB branch, a woman even blamed the bank manager of passing ‘castiest’ remarks against her.

Similar protest was held outside PNB branch at Basti Danishmanda where people staged a dharna after they were informed that the bank has no cash left at their disposal.

At the PNB branch in Hoshiarpur’s Adda Sran district, angry people including a large number of women sat on dharna after the bank staff informed that there was no cash available with them.
