PPP chief Manpreet Singh Badal said on Tuesday that the visuals of policemen thrashing a young girl was latest in the series of brutalities displayed by the state administration. “Even more disgraceful is the so called excuse submitted by senior police officers alleging that policemen were acting in response to violence shown by victim. To say that a poor young girl and her old father hit a team of half a dozen menacing policemen is stretching the limits of incredulity… Punjab may have been successful in eradicating terrorism, but such policemen are worse than terrorists,” he said.

Dhindsa says sorry for incident

Akali Dal MP S S Dhindsa on Tuesday condemned the alleged thrashing of a girl by policemen in Tarn taran and said action has been taken to prevent such case in future. “It was a very condemnable incident and I am sorry about it. But I must say action has been taken against the persons involved. In Punjab, this is first such incident and the government will not allow this to happen again. The government is taking steps to prevent such incident in future and all police officers have been told about it,” Dhindsa told reporters outside Parliament.
