RJD chief Lalu Prasad Thursday said attempts would be made to rope in former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi in the “broader Janata Parivar”.
His statement comes at a time when the RJD chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar are scheduled to meet Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to sort out “technical and other hitches” in the merger of Janata Parivar parties.
The JD (U) sharply reacted to Lalu’s remark, saying that Manjhi should first “denounce BJP”.
Before leaving for Delhi, Lalu Prasad said: “We are looking at a broader Janta Parivar. We will also try to rope in Jitan Ram Manjhi”.
Manjhi had recently spoken to Lalu to explore alliance options with RJD and Congress “minus Nitish”.
