Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM hit back at the grand alliance Tuesday for accusing him of helping the BJP by contesting in Seemanchal. He said he could not be blamed for the weakness of the alliance, which had failed to keep the SP, the NCP and the Left with it.
“Humko dekhkar unhe pet me dard kyon hota hai? Apni kamjori ko hamaare ghar ke saamne rakhe to hum kya kare (Why are they restless with my entry? What can I do when they are blaming me for their weakness?)” he said at a programme hosted by Aaj Tak.
“Defeating the BJP is the responsibility of all… Lekin ek ko Choudhary banne se nahi chalega (one alliance cannot claim to play the lead role),” he added.
“I am not the one who would avoid sharing the dais with Narendra Modi but would invite him to a wedding and take a selfie with him. I will neither share the dais with Modiji nor invite him to any wedding,” he said.
He did not hint at any possible alliance with the SP and the NCP. Asked if his contesting from Seemanchal will help BJP, he countered by asking if his not contesting would mean victory for the grand alliance. “We will take up the backwardness of the area, which has not just Muslims but others,” he said.
