Rahul Gandhi should become vice-president of the Congress party, make a “comprehensive tour” of the country, and give “direct feedback to Madam (Sonia Gandhi)”,J&K Congress chief Saifuddin Soz has said.

“He (Rahul) should tour the country because he has the potential to galvanise the party and it will be a great source of direct support to the Congress president whose sway on the party across the length and breadth of the country is total. I see a situation where Rahul could be the vice-president of the party. He can give direct feedback to Madam from every corner of India,” the senior Congress leader told The Indian Express here today.

Soz did not accept that Rahul had failed in UP. “He dismantled the edifice of corruption and misgovernance. The mishap (defeat) happened because when people came to seek an alternative structure of government, there was no clear message from the Congress. He has taken responsibility for the defeat but he has actually answered for the mistakes committed by others,” Soz said.

“He revived the Congress that was nearly finished in UP… I am very confident that he will prove his mettle again in the next parliamentary election,” Soz said.
