With RSS saying there should be no reservation in jobs and education for the affluent, the government on Monday said there is no rethink on the present social and caste based reservation policy and it will continue.

“It is the stated policy of Government that present arrangement of reservation will be maintained,” Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in response to SP and BSP members raising concern over remarks by some RSS leaders on Sunday.

RSS, Jaitley said, “has also not talked” of scrapping or changing the present reservation policy.

Earlier, Ram Gopal Yadav (SP) alleged a conspiracy in doing away with the present reservation system.

Mayawati (BSP) said the Constitution has clearly defined the criteria for giving reservation to SC/ST and OBCs and now RSS functionaries were talking of the quota being based on economic criteria.

She was referring to RSS general secretary Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi’s remark at the organisation’s camp at Nagaur in Rajasthan on Sunday.

Jaitley responded this, saying “he has not said that.”

Soon after listed papers of the day were laid on the table, Opposition members led by SP, BSP and JD-U were up on their feet raising the issue.

Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said the Chairman has disallowed a notice under rule 267 by Naresh Agarwal (SP) seeking suspension of business to take up the issue.

When members persisted with the issue, he said RSS is a private organisation. “Why are you worried about that.”

While Ram Gopal Yadav (SP) said there is no difference between RSS and Government, Mayawati said statements on the quota issue have been made since BJP came to power.

Responding to this, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said it was a clear view of the government that “reservation should continue” and “RSS has not talked about scrapping it.”

“There is no question of removing reservation for SC/ST. RSS has also called for strengthening reservation, not ending it,” he said.

Kurien said the government has given an assurance and the House should carry on with the listed business.

Elections are coming. After elections "Arun Joot-Lie says quota should be abolished". Almost 100% of RABID BRAHMIN DOUCHE are 100% well off. Then why do they demand abolition of quota? 1) To fool People that they are poor. 2) Brahmins are born perverts. So they cannot digest others getting better. The same policy they have been using for 3000 years.

Do not agree, reservation is a blot on our democratic system, it is prejudiced democracy so long such system will prevail, at least to start with all Income tax payers must be barred to reservation facility within SC,ST , Backward and others.

Why non-BJP parties always distorts the statements of RSS? Are they feeling existential threat from the growing acceptance of RSS by common Indians?

During election time RSS is BJP and during governance time BJP is not RSS. May be it's time RSS formed a political party on its own since they have the cadres to contest 2019. Then between BJP and RSS they can sit on either side of the government. The parliament can function and the country can run without any dissent. Together they can take care of the interests of the reserved and deserved to get India back to its old glory. Reminds me of a guy that used to boast, his moustache smell of fragrance because his great g father used to apply fragrant oil on the moustahce in his hey days.

Today, there are many so-called backward caste people who own multiple properties, cars, and whose gfather and father were govt employees, but their children still enjoy reservation. Reservation should be there, but not on caste or religion basis. There are poor people in every caste and religion who cannot afford even food. Reservation should be given to people who are economically poor, irrespective of which caste or religion they belong to. Economic status should be the sole criteria for reservation, not caste. Also, people who own ets and property worth 25 lakh based on current market value should be excluded from reservation. Also, reservation should be only for education, not for jobs. Once a person is educated, they should compete with everybody else and get their job.

The children, whose father or mother monthly income is Rs.50,000 per month and above should be out of the Reservation. Even better, if they pay income tax.

Reservations was supposed to be only for 10 Years. Vested interested go it extended till now and the same people want it to continue. Merit should be the only criteria of selection for jobs. let the poor be given free education and health care and let us stop at that.
