The JD(U) is likely to nominate party’s national president Sharad Yadav, former Bihar chief minister’s cultural advisor Pawan Kumar Verma and the party’s national general secretary Ghulam Rasool Baliyawi to Rajya Sabha against three vacancies.

The party that wanted to give a seat to the Congress to strike a formal alliance with it could not do so because of apprehensions of some dissidents voting against party candidate in the event of a fourth candidate in the fray. The party expelled its Mahua legislator for questioning Nitish Kumar’s leadership. A formal announcement on Rajya Sabha nominations from Bihar is expected to be made soon.
