Congress, JD-U and AAP today attacked imposition of President’s rule in Arunachal Pradesh as “murder” of democracy and federalism and accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of “insulting” the highest court of the country that is right now hearing the matter.

BJP, however, defended the decision saying it needs to be seen from multiple perspectives and is as per Constitutional mandate and in turn accused the Congress of politicising the issue.

“This is murder of democracy…The matter is sub-judice and government has acted in haste. It is a clear-cut insult to the highest court of the land. Democracy has been murdered,” Congress spokesperson Tom Vadakkan said.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal compared the imposition of President’s rule to an Emergency like condition. “Prez rule in Arunachal Advaniji was right in saying that there are Emergency-like conditions in the country,” he tweeted.

Attacking the decision, outgoing Arunachal chief minister Nabam Tuki said they will approach the court as matter is sub-judice. He also claimed that there is no law and order situation in the state, which is peaceful, and claimed Congress had 31 out of 44 MLAs, with BJP having only 11, besides two independents.

“Rules have not been followed in Arunachal. Decision taken by the government is unconstitutional…We will approach the Supreme Court about the decision. Today is a historic day when every citizen is celebrating Republic Day and such a decision by the Union Cabinet is enforced on this day.

is there any Indian at all in congress? spokesperson appears to be the guys who have sold out themselves for a bowl of rice and they expect country to trust them? tom, anony, ghulam nabi, sonia, oscar, robert, sam and these are all the foreign thugs who have hijacked our national icon and blackmailing the country with paid goons. What a pathetic condition for a country which spent a century fighting freedom by loosing so may of our greatest children. Especially our Netaji Bose, if he was alive, country could have been marvelling in par with China today. Womanizer Nehru, murdered all his opponents with in the party including Mahatma and hijacked his name to colonise the country for his family. With in 70 years they sold out the country to mafia with lots of brainless chamcha. Hope one day we get our country back.

bjp put President in a bind...if he sends it for reconsideration and the cabinet approves it again, then he cannot reject it so either way it was going to be imposed. bjp is playing dirty games to get power by hook or by crook using its rss governors.

CM continued in power after losing majority; did not want to face floor test. Sealed embly to prevent any floor test. Did not convene embly session before the end of six months from previous session. All these r for growing democracy. If such govt.is sacked it is murder such claim by cong who killedbdemocrscy in 1974.

Arunachal Pradesh is a very sensitive border state ,one can not afford political anarchy and collapse of governance. Interim President rule is essential and unavoidable.

You Congies don't have to do more dramas, lies etc. your party has no credibility to run govt in Arunachal pradesh. Infact, your oarty n leaders are creating emergency like situvations all over India by doing undemocratic activities, misleading people with false malicious intent. Creating unrest by supporting infact directly supporting so many things that surfaced in recent times to de-stabilise the govt. About 70% of people clearly knows that your party is bihind these incidents. Even the rest also aware of but, all knows who they are. So, don't make any nautancy issues.

I don't think so and neither does Pranab Mukherjee. The Congress Party can't bulldoze itself over every issue. The writing is on the wall! :)

yes, the gap between two session should not beyond six month, but the Governor has no authority to prepone and fix the date for the session without the consultation of the state cabinet, he is bound by the decision of the cabinet and the government according to the consution. or even if the government lose confidence of majority of members the governor should have asked for the confidence motion instead of allowing the dissident group to convened a session in community hall and hotel in Itanagar on 16th december where they have elected the rebel congress leader as CM and Deputy Speaker also rebel as speaker with the help of 11 BJP members. since then the matter is subjudice in court as both the parties has approach the court.
